If snow and freezing temperatures are what the winter keeps in store, better escape Bucharest and choose a ski resort to spend some days. Check how the snow is in Prahova Valley – just a 2-hour drive from Bucharest – and choose your favourite resort. Shall it be the upscale Poiana Brașov – where days are spent on the 26 km of slopes, and evenings are made for relaxing at the spa or warming up by the fire? Clăbucet ski slope in Predeal is also among the best known in the country, but don't forget Sinaia or Azuga either. Then you can also stop by Peleș Castle, an impressively well preserved palace where the Romanian kings used to live. A small piece of advice – during weekends, roads to or from Valea Prahovei can get extremely crowded, so maybe try extending your holiday 1 extra day, to keep that Zen state of mind.
